More on Open Science

Open Science is a scientific practice that aims to transform the modus operandi of scientific research. It presupposes the entire scientific process openness, which should be done in a transparent and collaborative way. Open Science includes the sharing of research data, publications, methodologies, tools and software used, enabling its reuse and replicability by other researchers. It also includes the concept of Citizen Science, where the engagement of society in the scientific process is valued. Therefore, it implies a series of paradigm changes that seek to make science a common good for society.

The Brazilian Institute of Information in Science and Technology – Ibict is a committed research institution that disseminates Open Science in Brazil. In this sense, it has developed, over the years, actions, services and tools for organization and sharing of research results and, more recently, scientific data.
